Chapters #13-15 in the perspective of Mrs. Dubose

I was sitting lost in a deep pool of thought, lost in a traffic jam of my own imagination. Ms. Jessie had just given me my medicine, so I sat as I tried to entertain myself by fiddling with rumors thought and imagery. I was slowly withering away as I sat till my bones disintegrated inside my body. In the distance I could see two childlike figures I assumed the two ghostly shapes ought to be Scout and Jem Finch. Oh how those two wretched demons make my skin crawl, I wondered what those two delinquents were up to know. They were full of mischief, always up to no good. They’re lucky their dad is a lawyer or they probably be rotting in jail by now. I waited patiently for them to stroll down my street I waited like a hunter waits for a nice big buck to stroll within range. As they approached I stopped them dead in their tracks I asked were they were going at this hour. They told me they were walking into town for what reason I could care less, I replied “playing hooky I suppose” they smirked and Jem sassed me in return. That boy ought to be slapped upside the head for such remarks, he should know better than to respond to an elder in such a manor. He ought to be taught some manors to behave like a civilized being. For it ain’t his fault his Negro lovin’ daddy can’t teach him a damn thing yet he can fight for those dirty niggers. This seemed to aggravate Jem. He clenched his fist as if he were about to do anything. I brushed them off as they continued I thought to myself, how even though I truly despise their very presence they are the only company I have. Jesse called me in for my medicine and I blacked out. Once I awoke it was almost dark. I peeked outside my window to see that my flowers were destroyed. I figured it would be those two, I also saw a broken baton on the grass. I immediately contacted Atticus and requested that Jem read to me for a month as a payment.

It's not that I enjoy hitting them for misbehaving; they just don't listen to me! And they deserve a spanking once in a while. My favorite time of the day is when they are at school so I don't have to deal with their destruction they're not bad its just that they are young and don’t know any better. I do feel bad for Scout though. She's not like most girls meaning she is a tom boy and smart too. Her teachers can't understand that she isn't like anyone else. The school year is ending and summer is coming around again. And I have to deal with three kids; Jem, Scout , and Dill.
